LEITAT is a Technological Center, member of TECNIO and recognized by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, that aims to collaborate with companies and institutions by adding technological value both to products and processes, and focuses its activity on research, development and industrial innovation (R+D+2i). LEITAT develops R&D activities in the areas of material sciences, environment, surface treatments, biotechnologies and renewable energies with deep knowledge and experience in technological transfers to several industrial sectors.

Furthermore, LEITAT provides a full range of services the different industrial sectors going from material design, testing and processing, to the development of prototypes. In particular, the several testing departments at LEITAT offer services for the determination of more than 800 physical and chemical parameters (including ISO Certification and Normalization). Moreover, LEITAT takes part each year in many projects financed by the regional and national governments, participates in projects co-funded by the European Commission, and develops private R&D projects funded by industrial partners.

The main role of LEITAT within MIDES project is:

  • Development and of carbon nanostructured cathodes and anodes. Electrodes physico-chemical and electro-chemical characterization and performance assessment at lab-scale.(WP1)
  • Development of nanostructured membrane with advance properties at lab-scale. Full membrane characterization and performance assessment. (WP2)
  • Selection of cathodic reaction and renewable recycle of cathode solution as well as support in the development of the MDC Design and Engineering (WP3)
  • Support on the MIDEs process integration (WP4)
  • Technical support for the pilot plant design and construction (WP6).
  • Risk assessment of nanotechnology-based membranes and electrodes during their whole life cycle (WP7)
  • Support to the coordination of the project toward administrative and scientific management of the project. (WP9)
